Purpose of Customer Stories

Our customer stories demonstrate our abilities. They showcase why we are an attractive employer for people within IT and tech, and a leading vendor of digital transformation.

  • The stories serve as proof points of our innovative and cutting edge work. They are important to exemplify and help the audience understand and put into context the work we do.
  • Our customer stories back up our visions and claims with data and facts. They contribute to lifting our perspective and communicating how we create a better tomorrow through technology.

What should a customer story contain?

Title

The title describes the main task or main value we have contributed to for our customer. It should be very short, yet descriptive.

Subtitle

The subtitle should capture in 1-2 sentences what we have helped our customer with and why this is important - for the customer and/or society as a whole. The subtitle serves as a summary of the entire story.

The challenge

The section called the challenge starts off the story by providing the background for our assignment. It should contain 1-2 paragraphs on who the customer is, what they needed help with, and how twoday was a fit.

The solution

What were the things we discovered? How did we solve the task? These questions should be answered in 2-3 paragraphs, so we need to carefully choose the most important findings. This is where we show our skills and innovative thinking.

twoday operates within a variety of fields. Since all of our customer stories need to be understood by a general audience, we must write them from the perspective of someone who is not a part of our field. This can for example mean that when we address various data programs, we preface with what kind of program we mean (software, application, etc. )

Customer Quote

There should be a quote from the customer following the description of the solutions we found. Prioritizing quotes and praise from our customers over internal sources, builds our credibility and highlight our joint efforts. The direct quote should be separated from the main text, with the correct name and title below the quote.

The value

In the final paragraph, we list the results we helped the customer achieve, on all levels (for the company, for the environment, for society as a whole, etc.) The paragraph should be easy to read and could be laid out as bullet points.

Delivering high quality data for Tomra

Subtitle:

Every bottle deposited in a vending machine somewhere in the world leaves behind a lot of data with useful information. twoday helped Tomra establish a high quality database to be able to make business critical decisions based on real data.

The challenge:

TOMRA is a major international player that produces deposit systems for beverage packaging. Bottles that are deposited in a vending machine leave behind a lot of data, and if used correctly, these data contain a lot of valuable information. This is what one of twoday's business intelligence teams came to assist TOMRA with:

  • A good tool to read and process data from their data sources.

  • An integration tool to synchronise their Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) with other internal solutions.

  • Support business processes across IFS and external solutions.

  • Improve their ability to utilise all collected data from deposit machines (40-50GB per day of sensor and deposit data).

The solution:

To help TOMRA get a good overview from a business perspective, with flexibility and a low user threshold, twoday introduced them to the application Qlik Sense. We coached them on how to use it as a tool for deeper analysis of their data, and integrated it with their existing database. All of their visualisation needs were met with one tool and one set of skills.

The goal of data integrations for TOMRA was to remove manual processes and double registration of data, and deliver quality data throughout the organisation. twoday assisted with consultancy and delivery of capacity for this purpose, and chose the software Talend. Talend was also used for ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) to move large amounts of data into their column-based analytical database.

It was important for TOMRA to be able to carry out further development of their systems without being dependent on external consultants. Therefore, twoday provided training for TOMRA employees in Norway and other European countries.

Quote:

"I find that twoday is very accommodating. They ask and challenge us based on experience in order to create good results. They also challenge us to think globally, they are flexible and good at handling many tasks at the same time."

– Øyvind Larsen, VP Information Systems at TOMRA

The value:

  • TOMRA now has a high quality database to be able to make business-critical decisions based on real data.
  • TOMRA has increased data quality, reduced manual work, saved resources and gained much better access to their data across systems and business processes.
  • The applications we introduced offer opportunities to work with AI and machine learning. This represents a great potential that will be explored further.
